Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, Accio Group has created a fully assembled modular built temporary store in Southern Ireland for the UK’s biggest food retailer in just three weeks.
Never shy of accepting a challenging brief, Accio Group have excelled in their specialist area of modular retail building this month with the delivery of a fully assembled 1800sqm temporary store for their client Tesco Plc.
The modular structure was erected on a site adjacent to the existing Dundalk store in Southern Ireland, which is to be demolished and rebuilt. With competing retailers in close proximity, recreating the trading space with no interruption in service and in the minimum amount of time was imperative.
The project began in the UK with the preparation of 47 pre-assembled volumetric component modules, measuring 14.4m x 3.3m x 4m. The units were then loaded and transported to Southern Ireland. Once on site in Dundalk, each unit was dropped onto precisely laid concrete pad foundations, following a grid plan designed to ensure the correct configuration of walled and open-sided units.
Accio was responsible for delivering a fully connected, water-tight building with a footprint of 2200sqm, which includes all ‘back of house’ staff and delivery facilities. Additional units were also placed on the site to accommodate the separate butcher and pharmacy stores.
The Accio team started preparing and loading the 47 units in the UK on the 15 July and the finished structure was handed over as a complete building ready for the Tesco fit-out teams.
That’s one big store in just three short weeks.
The boys had a cold beer (or two) to celebrate their achievement.
