Activ8rlives adds SmartOne Peak Flow and FEV1 Wireless Meter to health monitoring solution

The Activ8rlives SmartOne® Peak Flow and FEV1 Meter extends the range of Bluetooth Smart devices, allowing individuals to monitor their lung function from home and send their data via the Activ8rlives Health Monitoring and Food Diary App (iOS and Android) to the new Activ8rlives 3.0 online healthcare solution, compliant with the NHS Information Governance ToolKit as a Self-Care tool for patient-generated data.

The SmartOne® Peak Flow and FEV1 Meter helps patients to understand how their lung function changes throughout the week, during periods of ill health, change of medication or as they change weight and activity levels. It measures Peak Expiratory Flow rate (PEF) and Forced Expiratory Flow at 1 second (FEV1) using a non-invasive simple-to-use wireless monitoring technology.

The use of a Peak Flow meter is especially useful if patients have Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Cystic Fibrosis (CF) or Bronchiectasis (NCFB).

Peak flow values are often classified into three coloured zones using the traffic light system of measurement according to the American Lung Association: Green, Yellow and Red. The SmartOne and Activ8rlives App automatically stores the highest (best) value and prompts individuals to blow three times as hard and as fast to move the silver balls up the measuring cylinders for their best reading.

Within the Activ8rlives account, respiratory patients can set their own ‘normal’ targets or those calculated automatically by the system using the NHANES III population scales.
