The aim of the NHS Choices Health App Library is to provide a list of reviewed Apps that are safe to use, making it easier to find Apps that consumers can trust, improving patient and professional confidence, and enabling healthcare workers to be able to prescribe and recommend them to their patients.
In the latest version of the NHS Choices Health App Library, the new Health Apps Library Review Process ensures that Apps are relevant to people living in England, contains information from a verifiable or trusted source, comply with the Data Protection Act, ensure that they hold and use personal information appropriately, and above all make sure they are clinically safe and will not bring harm to the user. The National Information Board (NIB) aims to set regulation, accreditation and kite marking of technology and data enabled services later this year.
Inclusion of the Activ8rlives App in NHS Choices is a key step in giving healthcare professionals the confidence to recommend and prescribe Apps for use by their patients and is an important milestone for the Company as it develops integrated medical solutions for self-management of long-term conditions.
