Agar Scientific, a brand of Elektron Technology, today announced the acquisition of the Qados medical brand. This action positions Agar Scientific as a global leader in the online Microscopy, Lab and Medical supplies business. Qados will incorporated into the Agar Scientific brand from April 7th 2015.
The combination of Agar Scientific and Qados creates a single combined brand with more than £6M annual sales and a portfolio that now includes recognised brands from the medical sector all delivered from one central logistics UK centre and via the Agar Scientific eCommerce platform.
"As of today, Agar Scientific and Qados are officially together in one great brand - the Agar Scientific Brand," said Darren Likely, Commercial Director. "Part of our strategic growth plan has been to shift toward growing the Agar Scientific brand within the Elektron Technology Group. This acquisition gives us a portfolio of complementary, proven brands as a new springboard and accomplishes in a short time what would have taken us years to build on our own."
The teams of people from Agar Scientific and Qados have been working on integration plans since November 2014 to help make sure the combined brands gets off to a good start. "During this process I'm more convinced that the future of our combined companies opens up further opportunities in the near future," Likely said. "As excited as I am about our combined parts of the business, I'm equally excited about the combined talent of both teams."
Navid Tabassum, Sales Manager at Agar Scientific Medical, will continue to manage all of the key Qados relationships, including Ulrich Medical, Kubtec and Dilon. Hina Rauf continues her current sales role supporting all related medical products while helping to develop a new portfolio of medical brands suitable for the Agar Scientific ecommerce web site.
