This acquisition significantly expands Europa Biosite’s UK product offering and broadens its reach across academic and industrial research communities, further strengthening Cambridge Bioscience’s position as a leading partner for UK life science researchers.

Integrating Stratech Scientific with Cambridge Bioscience will bring together two complementary portfolios, creating greater choice for UK life science researchers. The combined organisation will offer:

  • an expanded life science product catalogue
  • broader national customer coverage, reaching more academic institutions, biotechnology companies and pharmaceutical partners, and
  • enhanced opportunities for existing and new global suppliers through a larger, unified UK commercial platform.

Europa Biosite continues to execute its strategy of building a high performance, pan-European life science distribution network through targeted acquisitions and commercial excellence. The addition of Stratech Scientific represents another meaningful step in its long term growth plan and strengthens its ability to support researchers with high quality products, service and technical expertise. With an ambitious M&A‑driven growth agenda, Europa Biosite remains actively focused on identifying and pursuing new acquisition opportunities across Europe.

Sue Hallett, Managing Director of Stratech Scientific, commented: “After 43 years leading Stratech Scientific, I am delighted to announce that we have joined Europa Biosite. Stratech Scientific and Cambridge Bioscience have grown in parallel for decades, sharing the same commitment to enabling scientific discovery.

By combining our portfolios and customer reach with Cambridge Bioscience, we will create expanded opportunities for our suppliers while providing our customers with access to a broader range of products and an even stronger level of service. This partnership is built on shared values, experience and a joint commitment to supporting the UK research community.”

Tim Hiddemann, CEO of Europa Biosite, said: “This acquisition represents an important strategic step for Europa Biosite. Integrating Stratech Scientific’s established product lines and customer relationships with Cambridge Bioscience reinforces our market leading position in the UK. It directly aligns with our ambition to offer the most comprehensive life science reagent portfolio in Europe and to be the partner of choice for suppliers and researchers. Expanding our reach and strengthening supplier relationships across key European markets remains a central objective for 2026.”

Sue Hallett added “Lake Falconer at Alfa Corporate Finance guided us through every stage of the transaction, from the first conversations with the buyer through detailed negotiations to completion. His calm, insightful advice made a complex process feel manageable, and we could not have achieved such a successful outcome without him.  Having worked with Lake on a previous sale (Molecular Dimensions) he was my first choice when embarking on the sale of Stratech Scientific.”

Lake Falconer, Partner at Alfa Corporate Finance, said “It was a pleasure helping Sue to complete this transaction, and it’s great to see these two local companies coming together to create a stronger larger platform for growth.”
