All Saints Garden Market in Cambridge wins Great British Market Award

All Saints Garden Market has won a Great British Market Award in the category of ‘Best Small Speciality Market’, at an awards ceremony held by the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA).

The market, which is run by Cambridge City Council, was commended by judges for being “a fantastic example of a niche artisan and craft market, with an expertly curated authentic handmade offer of a high standard.”

The ethos of the traders operating at this market is “We make what we sell” and provides visitors with an opportunity to meet the artists and makers in the beautiful enclosed setting of All Saints Garden opposite Trinity College. Among those licensed to trade at All Saints Garden is Glastonbury Festival’s Gold Award winning trader from 2017.

The announcement of All Saints Gardens Market’s success was made at NABMA’s one day conference in Birmingham as part of the Great British Market Awards.

Cllr Rosy Moore, Executive Councillor for Environmental Services and City Centre, said: “I’m delighted that All Saints Garden Market has been recognised by this national award. The level of craftsmanship and knowledge of the many superb traders that support the market are what sets it apart from other similar markets.

“We’re looking forward to building on this success with our programme of events, beginning with Love Your Local Market in May, that support our traders and continue to encourage residents and others to visit this wonderful market.”

Hilary Paxman Chief Executive of NABMA said: “The judges were impressed with the continued success and longevity of All Saints Garden Market. Now in its 43rd year, this niche market for local arts and crafts producers has strong links with the community and continues to thrive as a destination in its own right, adding substantially to the retail offer in the city.”
