Start-up or early-stage technology businesses can enter the category for ‘best early-stage investment in a disruptive technology', which is supported by the Technology Strategy Board.
Other categories include angel investor of the year; high-growth team of the year; VC deal of the year; social impact investment of the year; and international deal of the year.
The summit and awards take place in Liverpool on 1 and 2 July 2014, and are part of the prestigious International Festival for Business, a 50-day event in June and July that is expected to attract 250,000 visitors from across the world.
The UKBAA summit takes place at St George's Hall, with the awards ceremony to be hosted in Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral.
Last year's winner of the award for best early-stage investment in a disruptive technology was Oxford Photovoltaics, a University of Oxford spin-out company that is developing a low-cost sustainable transparent solar cell coating that can be printed on glass.
Oxford Photovoltaics received a £250k Smart award from the Technology Strategy Board in 2012 to support development of its prototype, and was also a participant in the Clean and Cool Mission to San Francisco, supported by the Technology Strategy Board. Read Oxford Photovoltaics' success story.
