The festival this weekend will consist of a series of talks and workshops, hosted by education experts from around the county and beyond, centred on five key themes: Optimistic leadership; the empowered teacher; identity and community; creativity in education; and mental health and wellbeing.

Guest speakers include Vic Goddard, a headteacher who featured on the television show Educating Essex; Rae Snape, head of The Spinney Primary School and a National Leader for Education; Professor Pam Burnard of the University of Cambridge; Professor Dame Alison Peacock, who is chief executive of the Chartered College of Teaching; and numerous other distinguished education experts.

The event is being organised by a steering group consisting of representatives of The Kite TSA Cambridge, University of Cambridge Faculty of Education, Long Road Sixth Form College, CASSA, Teach in Cambridgeshire as well as Anglia Ruskin. It has received financial support from the Cambridgeshire Schools Improvement Board.

Dr Corinne Boz, Head of Department for Education and Social Care at Anglia Ruskin University, said: “It is an honour for Anglia Ruskin to be hosting the first Cambridgeshire Festival of Education and we are looking forward to welcoming the county’s educators onto campus to celebrate the contribution made by teaching staff at all levels, from early years to sixth form.

“We have some inspiring speakers and workshop leaders booked to attend this festival and I hope it will be the first of many.”

The festival will take place at Anglia Ruskin’s Cambridge campus on East Road tomorrow (Saturday July 1st). Tickets are still available and are priced at £25, but discounts may be available. For more information, visit
