Anglia Ruskin strengthens military links

Anglia Ruskin University has strengthened its links with the Armed Forces by agreeing a new partnership with the British Army.

Anglia Ruskin has been providing Higher Education health courses to the Royal Air Force since 2011 and earlier this year launched a Master's degree in Military Veterans and Family Studies, a unique course to assist anyone working with the UK’s estimated five million former Service personnel.

The new partnership with the Army will allow over 1,000 Army Medical Services Soldiers to develop their careers by enrolling on a Degree or Foundation Degree in Management and Leadership in Health and Social Care.

The course is delivered online through Anglia Ruskin’s Virtual Learning Environment which means that the Army Medical Services Soldiers can study anywhere in world, even when posted on deployment overseas.

Anglia Ruskin is an approved learning provider under the Armed Forces Enhanced Learning Credits Scheme (ELCAS).  Army Medical Services Soldiers are given credits and advanced entry onto the course, which teaches them how to apply managerial and leadership principles to solve practical problems and assist in real-life situations.

Suparna Ghose, Principal Consultant within Anglia Ruskin’s Degrees at Work department, said: “This is a major step forward in terms of Anglia Ruskin University’s work with the Armed Forces, to continue to bring work-based distance learning educational programmes to service personnel.

“The Army has seen the fantastic work we have done with the RAF over the past two years and is keen to offer their medical personnel the opportunity to benefit from the innovative method of learning that Anglia Ruskin offers.

“Studying for a degree can contribute to career development whilst still in the military, and also help when transitioning into a civilian job.”
