A team of cyclists from Apache Capital, along with clients and partners, rode 60 miles from London to Cambridge on 14th May, raising funds for Cambridgeshire children’s mental health charity Blue Smile. Taking place in Mental Health Awareness Week, the ride started at the company’s London office and ended at their flagship Present Made housing scheme in Eddington.
Nikki King, a member of Apache Capital’s Charity Committee, says;
“We have been really excited to complete the Present Made scheme in Eddington this year and that prompted us to choose a Cambridgeshire organisation for our Charity of the Year in 2026. Blue Smile's arts-based approach to supporting children is exactly the kind of initiative that resonates with our team, who selected the charity earlier last year.”
So far, Apache have raised over £4000 to support Blue Smile’s work, funding arts-based therapy and small-group support for children in primary schools across Cambridgeshire, so they can learn, play and grow to their full potential.
Members of the Blue Smile team welcomed the cyclists at the finish line and joined Apache staff for a post-ride celebration in the shared Pavilion area in the Present Made development. Present Made Eddington is the UK’s first neighbourhood designed for renting. With 373 homes, a shared garden, co-working space and gym, the aim is to create a tight-knit community where, through great design and service, residents feel safe, comfortable and supported.
Blue Smile Charity Director, Anne Kent-Taylor, said;
“We’re so grateful for the incredible support of the Apache Capital and Present Made team this year, and especially to the dedicated cyclists who took on this big challenge to raise funds and awareness. We rely on support from the community to deliver our specialist help, enabling children to enjoy happier childhoods and build brighter futures. With very high demand for our services across the county, Apache Capital’s support will make a difference for local children to help them thrive.”
The ride was supported by Andy Cook Cycling, who organized logistics, route planning and ride leaders. Eddington favourite La Pizzica provided food for the celebration.
