Are your natural inhibitions stopping you from growing your business?

We are all different. We like different things. We have different views and different values. Just think how dull the world would be if we were all the same!

At Spirus, we have the privilege of working closely with leading worldwide personality profiling brand, Facet5. There is nothing like “product sampling” when you start working with a new client to really understand what they’re all about.

Therefore, the whole Spirus team completed the easy, jargon free questionnaires online and had our personal feedback sessions - and the outcomes were, quite simply, astonishing.  In fact, the results were so fascinating, so spot on, and so useful, that I have become Facet5 accredited myself because I really wanted to know more and how and why.  (Which really fits with my personality!)

Even though we completed the questionnaires about ourselves, it is incredible how revealing the outcomes were in black and white.  It really explains why I love doing telemarketing and building relationships and Jo is excellent at managing complicated marketing projects and deadlines. If you hadn’t noticed, we are quite different… Basically though, in our professional lives, we are playing to our natural strengths.  Of course, you can’t have a “wrong” personality, but different people have natural tendencies which differ from one another. Understanding this better also highlights where we need to seek help, and perhaps where the strengths of others lie.

So what’s your point, Tania?  I hear all the time, “Ugh! Telemarketing!” And sure, it’s definitely not everyone’s cup of tea. But knowing there are people out there who really do love it should be something you can work with. You don’t have to avoid growing your business because you can’t bear the idea of telemarketing, or writing a blog, participating in social media (a big ugh too for many!) or talking to the press. Just because you don’t think you’re good at it, or because you’re not interested, rest assured that one rule really doesn’t fit everyone.  Honestly.  It is a huge relief to me that our most excellent copywriter Alison will be refining this blog for me. (I wonder if she will keep the last sentence in? ) [She did ;-)] Our team is made up of very different individuals who understand and respect each other’s strengths, and know how to make the most of them. Don’t let your own preferences hold your business back.

Now go forth and find a business partner who loves the things you hate and who you can trust to grow your business.  Now, speaking of trust…  but no, that is a matter for another blog.
