BACTEST launches Speedy Breedy in the US brewing sector at MBAA Conference

BACTEST is proud to launch Speedy Breedy at the Master Brewers Association of the Americas [MBAA]. With the upsurge in US microbreweries, quality of beer will become a key factor for their continual growth.

Trials indicate that Speedy Breedy can detect the presence of wild yeasts in as little as 5.8 hours, compared with sending samples to a lab which takes three to five days excluding transportation times.

The presence of contamination (microbial or environmental) indicates an uncontrolled process or insanitary procedures that can produce a number of significant problems in beer including lower terminal gravities, incorrect alcohol content, and bad taste. Identifying the contamination quickly means that spoiled beer is not bottled and contaminated equipment is quickly identified so that spoilage of subsequent batches can be prevented.
