Now in its 52nd year, the Queen’s Award for Enterprise is the most prestigious business award in the country, with winners recognised as being among the best in the country and able to use the esteemed Queen’s Awards emblem for the next five years.
This year, a total of 230 businesses from across the UK were recognised for their contribution in four categories - international trade, innovation, sustainable development and promoting opportunity.
Local winners included:
Innovation
- Endomag: A minimally-invasive surgical guidance system to provide a better standard of cancer care
- Featurespace: Innovative machine learning; fraud management software platform that understands the real-time behaviour of individual customers
- Telensa: Time-of-use energy metering for wirelessly controlled streetlights
International Trade
- Cambridge Integrated Circuits: Development and sale of integrated circuits for the contactless measurement of position inside machines
- Darktrace: Enterprise Immune System technology for cyber security, powered by machine learning and advanced AI algorithms
- Global Inkjet Systems: RIP software, electronics, software drivers and ink system components for industrial inkjet printheads
- Telensa:Cambridge Wireless streetlight management system and smart city sensor network
- Zettlex (UK): Design and manufacture of sensors for high-accuracy position & speed measurement in extreme environments
Business Secretary Greg Clark said: "The UK has some of the most entrepreneurial and innovative minds in the world delivering jobs, growth and greater choice for consumers and I am proud to see a wealth of these businesses being recognised today.
