Bidwells announces business growth and team expansion

One of the UK’s leading property consultancies – headquartered in Cambridge and with 12 further offices across England and Scotland – is celebrating significant business growth and the expansion of its Building Consultancy Project Management team.

Bidwells is reporting an increase in turnover from £1 to £3.7 million for its Building Consultancy division over the past 18 months (mid 2014-end of 2015).

Its team has also expanded to meet business demand, from 11 people to a current headcount of 27, 16 of whom are based in Cambridge, six in Oxford and five in London.

Nicholas Pettit, Partner and Head of Building Consultancy attributes the business growth to the strength of several sectors including education, commercial offices and laboratories and student accommodation.

He says: “Where Bidwells has scored highly over the last 18 months is in our team’s capability to provide a comprehensive service to our clients who have the confidence to let us run the project. With advice and support from other areas of our business, we have resources and access to information that some of our competitors don’t, so we can deliver a complete solution in-house.

“In Building Consultancy, every project and every journey is different. That is why we have a wide range of different skills and specialisms within the team including people who are experts in historic buildings, student accommodation, commercial buildings for technology companies and so on.

“At the end of the day, our success hinges on the relationship between the Project Manager and the client’s team and over the years, we have established solid working partnerships that have been successful and rewarding on both sides.

“2016 has also started very positively and, although there are some challenges such as a shortage of skilled labour in the construction industry and uncertainty over the EU, we are seeing projects progressing well.”

Over the next year, Bidwells is looking to recruit four to six new roles to enhance the Building Consultancy team further.
