Bidwells celebrates 175 years in business with launch of charity cookbook

Bidwells, one of the UK's leading property consultancies, last night (Thursday) celebrated its 175th year in business with a glittering reception at the Napp building, Cambridge Science Park.

Attended by Bidwells' clients, Bidwells launched their charity cookbook Make me, Eat me! at the event. All proceeds from their sale will be donated to the Firm's five nominated children's hospice charities.

While the Firm has taken this opportunity to celebrate its heritage, this has been a year for celebrating its role in the community today and focussing on the future and for this reason the Napp building, located on the Science Park, was ideal for the event.

The evening was an opportunity to raise valuable funds for EACH, Bidwells' Cambridge nominated charity, with over £800 raised on the night from the sale of the cookbooks alone.

Patrick McMahon, Senior Partner, Bidwells, addressed the room, "We wanted to share the evening with those who are most important to us, our Clients, without whom there would be no Bidwells. We have been in Cambridge for almost all of our 175 years, and one of our first Clients, Trinity College (owners of the Science Park), has been with us for almost as long. It is our wish that every single organisation in this room will be with us for at least 175 years.

"I would also like to use this evening to shine a spotlight on EACH, our nominated charity in our anniversary year, who are doing a fantastic job for families and young people when they need help the most. Please support them by buying one of our cookbooks – Make me, Eat me!"

Graham Butland, CEO of EACH (pictured with Patrick McMahon) said, "I'd like to thank Bidwells for a tremendous year and their huge support in raising a significant amount of money for EACH. We rely on 70-80% of our funding from contributions, both corporate giving and individual donations. Bidwells sets a fine example of true corporate sponsorship – other organisations could learn a lot from them."

Also speaking was Alie Rowbotham, a bereaved mother whose son was cared for by EACH.

Make me, Eat me! contains 175 recipes from celebrities, including Ed Sheeran and Raymond Blanc, clients, the charities and Bidwellians themselves.
