Bidwells team marks 175 years by cycling 175 miles

Five riders from Bidwells have completed a gruelling cycle from Cambridge to York Minster, supported by two drivers - a total of 175 miles, to mark the 175th year of Bidwells. All money raised from this great challenge will be going to East Anglia Children's Hospital (EACH).

To sum up the gruelling ride here are some of the stats -

  • Five 10 minute stops, 35, 62, 92, 118 and 150 miles
  • 2 boxes of Jelly Babies, 3 (large) bags of Haribo, 8 tubes of electrolyte tabs, 15 sausage rolls, 3 crates of water, 1 tub of pasta (James wouldn't share), 1 large bag of peanuts, 5 pepperami sticks, 15 bananas
  • 1 grazed elbow
  • 1 puncture
  • 10 hours 22 minutes in the saddle
  • 12.5 hours door to door
  • 8,166 calories (each) - that's 40,830 calories in total
  • 16.9 mph average speed
  • 8pm arrival at York Minster
  • 1 bottle of champagne
  • 7 pints followed by 6 burgers, 1 salad and 7 portions of chips, followed by 7 pints… followed by 7 pints…
  • 94 donations so far, £1,927.93 and counting…
