Bidwells team set to use pedal power to raise money for EACH

Three keen cyclists from leading multi-disciplined property consultancy firm Bidwells, will be putting the wheels in motion to help raise money for the East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH). Matt Dawson, Doug Shulman and Colin Summers will be taking part in the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 Peloton Relay on Sunday (2 August).

The trio are training hard for the event which starts in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, but because they are all based in separate offices it means there are no opportunities for them to meet and ride together before the big race.

The race follows a 100-mile route on closed roads through the capital and into the Surrey countryside, before heading back for a sprint finish down the Mall.

Doug, who is based in Cambridge, is a keen cyclist and last year took part in a one-day Bidwells 175-mile, York to Cambridge fundraising cycling challenge.

Colin works in the Bidwells London office and also took part in the same 175 cycle ride as Doug last year. Matt is based in the Milton Keynes office and he recently cycled to the summit of the legendary Mont Ventoux with colleagues from the Residential Development division.

Colin said: "While we are all determined to do our best to raise as much money we can for EACH, we are all a little nervous by the fact that we may not get a chance to train together before the event.

"However, it is going to be a great day and we are all really looking forward to it and we hope that we can raise as much as we can for EACH."

Karen Newton, EACH Cambridgeshire Fundraiser, said: “We are thrilled that the Bidwells team have chosen to support us with their Ride London-Surrey challenge and would like to wish the team the best of luck for the day. Bidwells have raised a tremendous amount of money for EACH as part of their 175th anniversary and we are so grateful for their continued support. Commitment from businesses is so important to the work we do, without support from companies such as Bidwells we wouldn’t be able to continue our vital work caring for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across East Anglia.”

EACH supports families and cares for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk. EACH's care and support is tailored for the needs of all family members and delivered where the families wish – in their own home, at hospital, in the community or at one of three hospices in Ipswich, Milton and Quidenham.

EACH relies on voluntary donations for the majority of their income and needs to raise almost £6 million to deliver their services this year – £16,000 a day, every day of the year.

Bidwells raised an unprecedented £63,955 for East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH) as part of its 175th anniversary year celebrations. And a further £20,000 was raised from the Mont Ventoux challenge earlier this year. In total the firm, which has 13 offices across England and Scotland has raised more than £144,000 for its five chosen children hospice charities from April last year to April this year.
