The site, which is home to world class research, healthcare and innovation, has planning permission to house an additional 75,000 sq m - the equivalent of 14 Wembley pitches - of new clinical and science related business.

To assist with this work, joint developers Liberty Property Trust and Countryside have announced a new collaboration with Cambridge University Health Partners (CUHP) to promote and manage the campus.

This will involve CUHP managing enquiries from those interested in joining the newly expanded Campus, supporting CBC events and helping to market the site based on the excellent work of Jeanette Walker, who previously worked on behalf of the developers.

Andrew Blevins, managing director of Liberty Property Trust, said:  “It’s important for people to know that we are open for business to companies wishing to benefit from locating at CBC.  CUHP are well placed to talk to potential occupiers about the collaboration and networking opportunities that already exist at CBC.”

Andrew Carrington, managing director of Countryside, said: “As we enter the next phase of the Campus’s expansion we remain focused on raising awareness of the opportunities available to work alongside world class healthcare companies in what is rapidly becoming a global centre of excellence.  We have agreed an initial short-term collaborative approach with CUHP to continue the promotion of the Campus and kick-start the expansion, allowing time for a more comprehensive promotional strategy to be developed and implemented.”

Malcolm Lowe-Lauri, Executive Director at CUHP, said:  “We believe Cambridge is the capital of the UK’s life science and is one of the key cities ready to lead the country’s future economic success. The list of companies and organisations based in and around the city shows this is no idle boast. On the Campus alone we are home to the University of Cambridge, the new global research headquarters for AstraZeneca, the world famous Addenbrooke’s Hospital, GlaxoSmithKline and the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology. By working with Liberty Property Trust and Countryside and developing our strong links to the wider Bioscience and Technology clusters in Cambridge, we will ensure the Campus continues to deliver new jobs, investment and opportunities to Cambridge and the East of England.”

Cambridge Biomedical Campus, located two miles south of the city centre, is home to a unique combination of world-class biomedical research, patient care and education on a single site including:

•             Cambridge University Hospitals (Addenbrooke’s and The Rosie)
•             The University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine
•             Medical Research Council: MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit, MRC Metabolic Diseases Unit, MRC Cancer Unit, MRC Epidemiology Unit, MRC Biostatistics Unit and the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology home to multiple Nobel prize winners
•             Unit and the Laboratory of Molecular Biology home to multiple Nobel prize winners

•             GlaxoSmithKline Clinical Unit

Construction is also underway on a new strategic research and development centre and global corporate headquarters for AstraZeneca and the new Papworth Hospital, a state-of-the-art facility for patients requiring heart and lung treatment.

Bidwells, Savills and Creative Places are acting for the developers with regard to real estate enquiries.
