Grants are available from the Business Energy Efficiency (BEE) programme, which assists eligible businesses to identify energy saving opportunities and then invest in capital projects that implement energy efficiency measures. Grants are available up to a maximum of £20,000.
The funding has been secured from the European Regional Development Fund and businesses are being urged to ensure they make the most of this opportunity, because when Britain leaves the EU, opportunities to apply for European funding may no longer exist.
Applying for a grant is relatively simple, and support is available from the BEE project team to guide businesses through the process.
Antony Gough, BEE Project Manager, said: “This is a great opportunity for small and medium sized businesses to receive help towards implementing projects that will cut carbon emissions and in turn running costs.
“Our funding pot is limited and only available for a fixed period of time. We anticipate lots of interest so we’re encouraging businesses to get in touch and find out if they are eligible sooner rather than later, so they don’t miss out.”

About Business Energy Efficiency Cambridge & Peterborough:
The Business Energy Efficiency Cambridge & Peterborough programme (BEECP) aims to provide support and grants to small businesses to help catalyse investment in energy efficiency initiatives, to reduce carbon emissions and realise the associated business benefits including; reduced operating costs, increased competitiveness, business growth and resilience.
The project is offering two strands of support to help businesses improve energy efficiency:
- Energy Reviews - A fully funded on-site review to help identify, prioritise and quantify opportunities for cost and carbon savings for businesses. Additional support will be available to help businesses identify specific solutions and products, with detailed feasibility studies as required.
- Capital Grants - Qualifying businesses may be able to apply for a capital grant – up to a maximum of 25% or £20,000, whichever is the lower - to help catalyse investment in products and solutions that will reduce energy use.
The project is bringing together experienced organisations and energy efficiency practitioners, led by the charity Peterborough Environment City Trust (PECT), and delivered in partnership with Nwes and Groundwork.
