Calling all fuel-conscious drivers - how heavy is your foot?

Elms Cambridge BMW is giving fuel-conscious drivers the chance to learn how to drive efficiently from BMW experts at a landmark business event.

Visitors to the UNITE Summer Business Forum on 10 July will be able to exercise their competitive edge as they are challenged to drive a BMW in the most economical way possible. Participants will be pitted against each other in a battle to reach the number one spot on the leaderboard and win the top prize of a BMW car for a weekend.

The friendly challenge is the perfect test to drive home the message of sustainability, which is the key focus of the free knowledge-sharing event at the dealership on 10 July. Nearly 50 notable local businesses will be collaborating for mutual gain at UNITE, making it the largest ever event of its nature in Cambridgeshire. The event is supported by the Cambridge News, Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce and Future Business Centre.

Elms Cambridge Dealer Principal Steve Penman, who was recently recognised globally by BMW for his dealership’s contribution to driving business growth, said: “We know sustainability and keeping fuel costs down is a key priority for our clients. This challenge is the perfect way to share our expertise with them to help them become more economical. Our £8.5 million premises is the perfect host venue because it showcases a range of renewable energy solutions, including energy efficient lighting. We are always striving to increase performance but sustainability is at the forefront of our minds, and that's the message we'll all be spreading at the Summer Business Forum.”

UNITE’s keynote speakers include Big Issue founder John Bird, BT futurologist Dr Nicola Millard, Sky Rainforest Rescue Manager at BSkyB Sarah Anderson and Financial Times food writer and saviour of Fitzbillies Restaurant Tim Hayward. Cambridgeshire companies are being urged to attend and soak up the free expertise on offer at the event, which will focus on a Think Tank ideas exchange. Discussion topics include social media, technology, increasing profitability, social enterprise, and skills & development.

Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge Building Society, St John’s Innovation Centre, the Wildlife Trust, University Centre Peterborough and Streets Accountants are just some of the local pioneers hosting Think Tank sessions.
