This year’s line-up is bigger and better than ever, as the Festival will host: the woman behind The Theory of Everything film phenomenon Jane Hawking; Best Exotic Marigold Hotel actress Celia Imrie; Queen of the High Street Mary Portas; classic children’s authors Judith Kerr (Mog, The Tiger Who Came to Tea) and Anthony Horowitz (Alex Rider); much-loved performance poets Michael Rosen (We’re Going on a Bear Hunt) and Roger McGough; prize-winning fiction writers Philippa Gregory, Ali Smith, Graham Swift and Eimear McBride; historian Antonia Fraser and scientist Henry Marsh; Humans author Matt Haig andpolitical commentators Jeremy Bowen, Will Hutton, Zoe Williams and Polly Toynbee. With the general election just around the corner, we are thrilled that three political grandees Lord Norman Tebbit, Lord Roy Hattersley and Baroness Shirley Williams will join BBC 4’s Reflections Peter Hennessy to discuss the condition of British politics, whilst the ever-popular New Statesman debate promises for engaging conversation on the future of Europe.
The Festival's marvellous stewards are essential to the smooth running of the festival and they will work with a head steward and event coordinator to ensure that audiences fully enjoy the festival.
Stewards’ tasks may include setting up venues, directing audiences, managing book-signing queues, collecting audience evaluation forms, manning the Green Room and keeping venues tidy. Stewards also get to wear a fabulous festival t-shirt!
