Cambridge Ahead announces new CEO

Cambridge Ahead, the business and academic member organisation dedicated to the sustainable and inclusive growth of the Cambridge city region, is delighted to announce the appointment of Dan Thorp as it’s new CEO.

The global search, led by renowned international agency Minerva, generated significant high-level interest, with applications from experienced candidates spanning the public and private sector nationally.

Dan will be known to many in the ecosystem, having spent the last four years as Cambridge Ahead’s Policy and Programmes Director and with his detailed knowledge of the region and dedication and commitment to advocating for continued sustainable and inclusive growth, he proved to be the outstanding candidate.

Harriet Fear, Chair of Cambridge Ahead said: “I am delighted that Dan will be leading the important work Cambridge Ahead does both locally and nationally to advocate for good long term economic growth. He represents the values Cambridge Ahead and our members hold so dear, in particular how the organisation engages with elected representatives and policymakers to make a difference.’’

Upon appointment on 3 July, Dan Thorp commented: “I am thrilled to have been appointed to lead Cambridge Ahead through this next stage of its evolution. I’m also excited by the opportunity we have in front of us. Building on the role Cambridge Ahead has forged in bringing the academic, business, and civic community together for the common good of our city, we can now go even further in helping shape a thriving economy which seeks to enhance the region for the good of all communities.”
