Cambridge AWiSE 20th anniversary: Inspire, Inform, Challenge

Come along to Lucy Cavendish College on 2 October 2014 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of CamAWiSE: supporting women working in science, technology, engineering and maths.

Why attend? AWiSE would like to encourage women working in STEM to have their voice heard by those who are in a position to make and implement policies affecting careers. Or you may be an employer who wants to find out what other organisations are doing and hear womens' views and concerns.

There is one week to go before booking closes [register here by 18 Sept] for what promises to be a stimulating evening. Speakers include Dr Jan Peters, Past President of the Women’s Engineering Society and one of the authors of the influential SETFair report of 2002, who looks back at its impact ten years on.

Our speakers will be joined in a panel discussion by Dr Julian Huppert, MP for Cambridge and Dr Nancy Lane, Founder Director of WiSETI and Past President of the Institute of Biology. We are anticipating questions from women in science, engineering and technology - what initiatives have helped them in their careers and what are the barriers to keeping them there? The event will conclude with an extensive panel discussion session, finishing at 9.00pm.

Further details, registration and the latest event blog are on the website. The cost is £15 (or £10 for CamAWISE or WES members) for the full meeting, including hot buffet supper.

The event will also include an (optional) afternoon meeting for women in STEM networks from 3.00 to 5.30pm, followed by the evening event. Everyone welcome!
