Cambridge BID launches the Love Cambridge gift card to support our city's High Street

Stuck with what to buy a friend, loved one or colleague as a gift? Is there a birthday, wedding, Christening, baby shower or leaving do fast approaching? You may want to consider the new ‘Love Cambridge’ gift card: a gift that doesn’t just show you care but also cares about our city and has the High Street’s best interest at heart.

Launched by Cambridge Business Improvement District (BID), the ‘Love Cambridge’ gift card is redeemable at a wide variety of businesses within Cambridge’s BID area (the city centre and CB1 area) – and, because it can only be used in-store in person (not online), it benefits the local economy by ensuring the spend stays in Cambridge.

The card can be loaded with as little as £10 or as much as £200, and the choice of where to spend it is huge. There are more than 150 participating businesses, which include national high street chains such as John Lewis, Build-a-Bear, The White Company, Paperchase, The Perfume Shop, Decathlon, Carphone Warehouse, Hobbs – as well as smaller independents such as Podarok, Millers Music, Nomads and Barton Bicycles to name but a few.

The ‘Love Cambridge’ gift card can also be redeemed at an assortment of eateries from Aromi to Zizzi – including Cambridge Chop House, McDonalds, Patisserie Valerie, Smokeworks, Bills, D’Arry’s, Nanna Mexico, Pint Shop, Yo Sushi, Ta Bouche, The Cambridge Brew House, The Old Bicycle Shop, The Punt Yard, The Station Tavern and many more.

You can use the card at the cinema, (eg The Vue), to book a stay in a hotel (eg DoubleTree by Hilton, Royal Cambridge, The Gonville), to get your hair done (eg Finn Jordan, Sean Hanna, Stilo Hair & Beauty) or even to book your next holiday (eg Premier Travel).

Ian Sandison, CEO of Cambridge BID (pictured), said: “The Love Cambridge gift card is a great local alternative to existing national cards, and represents an important development for both local businesses and the local economy. It can be spent in a wide range of participating shops, restaurants, bars, hotels and leisure facilities within Cambridge, giving the consumer a phenomenal choice of options, whilst ensuring that the money spent stays local.”
