Cambridge Biomedical Campus wins award

The Cambridge Biomedical Campus last night (Thursday) won the Place Making Award in Property Week's Property Awards 2014.

The Cambridge Biomedical Campus, first established in 1962, combines world-class biomedical research, patient care and education on a single site. Now undergoing a major expansion that includes the co-location of companies alongside the existing 7000-strong community of healthcare professionals and research scientists, the Campus is on track to becoming one of the leading biomedical centres in the world by 2020.

It will be situated on 11 acres of the 70 acre development extension to the Campus.

Patrick McMahon, Senior Partner Bidwells and Property Awards judge commented: "The Biomedical Campus really stood out for me from the others on the shortlist, being located in Cambridge.

"The extent of the activity already confirmed there is extraordinary, with AstraZeneca relocating its entire UK presence to the campus from Cheshire and West London taking 600,000 sq ft.

"Papworth Hospital  has also announced its intention to relocate to the Campus in 2016 (subject to final PFI approval). Projects like this are key to the future of the UK and its growth which is why I am pleased it won."
