Cambridge businesses invited to take on The Red Hen Project's Fearless Firewalk

Following the success of last year's event, which raised more than £7,000 for local children and families, The Red Hen Project is inviting businesses, and other organisations, across Cambridge to take part in its second Fearless Firewalk on Wednesday 21 October 2026.

Hosted at The Cass Centre, kindly supported by Cambridge University Press & Assessment, the event offers organisations an opportunity to bring colleagues together for a unique fundraising challenge while making a real difference to children and families across the city.

Last year, participants walked barefoot across 20 feet of red-hot embers, reaching temperatures of around 1,236°F. Every participant completed the Firewalk and, remarkably, every participant chose to do it a second time!

This year's event promises another memorable evening, bringing together businesses, organisations and individuals from across Cambridge in support of local children.

For almost 30 years, The Red Hen Project has worked alongside children and families across Cambridge, providing practical, early support that helps children thrive emotionally, socially and at school, preventing small challenges from becoming bigger crises.

Unlike many fundraising events, the Firewalk doesn't require months of training or specialist equipment. Participants receive a full safety briefing just before taking on the challenge, making it an accessible way for businesses to support their local community while giving colleagues the opportunity to share a very unique experience together.

Businesses can get involved in a number of ways. They can enter a team, fund employees' registration fees, match the money their colleagues raise, sponsor a Red Hen parent to take part, donate a raffle prize or sponsor the event itself. Teams are also encouraged to come along and support colleagues throughout the evening, helping create the exciting and supportive atmosphere that made last year's Firewalk such a success.

Participants often leave with far more than memories of walking across hot coals. Last year's Firewalk gave many people the confidence to take on something they never imagined they could do, alongside the satisfaction of knowing they had helped improve the lives of children in their local community.

Whether your organisation is looking for a distinctive team-building opportunity, a new way to support its corporate social responsibility programme, or simply wants to give something back locally, The Red Hen Project would love to welcome you.
