Cambridge City Hotel holds a vintage afternoon for charity

A Vintage Tea Dance is being held at Cambridge City Hotel on Sunday 20th October, 3pm to 6pm to raise funds for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

The one-off tea dance at the historic city centre hotel promises to be an afternoon to remember with entertainment from The Haywood Sisters, a vintage style vocal trio who will bring glamour and perfect harmony to the event.  Diamond Jive will be providing jive routine demos and helping guests with the dance steps.  A delicious afternoon tea prepared by the chefs at Cambridge City Hotel is included in the ticket price and cocktails and bubbly will also be available at the pay bar.

Sarah Martin, who is organising the event, has been involved with charitable fundraising for much of her working career, having recently retired as the Chair of Whitworth House after a successful Extension Appeal to raise over £100,000.  Sarah was keen to continue her charity fundraising efforts and knew that EACH would be the perfect cause to support.

Sarah said: “We chose Cambridge City Hotel as the venue for our event because of its fabulous marble flooring – which is perfect for our tea dance!  The art deco look to the hotel will also add to the ambience of our event and as Cambridge City Hotel is a classy hotel it is in keeping with our vintage theme.  I have been so grateful for the help and support Cambridge City Hotel’s team have given in organising this event and our dedicated Event Coordinator has been second to none.”

Sponsored by Eversheds and Marshalls, the event will also have a vintage hair stylist, Hannahbelles, on hand on the day to re-create the vintage look.  Sarah has her own vintage-retro jewellery and accessories business, Magpies Attic, and will have a stand on the day with items for sale and a percentage of sales will also be donated to EACH.  Cambridge milliner Abigail Crampton will have her beautiful hats and fascinators at the tea dance for guests to try on and buy.

In a further effort to raise funds, the Vintage Tea Dance will hold a raffle of generously donated items including a handmade leather satchel from the Cambridge Satchel Company.  Guests will also have the chance to win a beautiful Quercus Fragrance Collection gift box from well-known perfumer Penhaligon’s, two tickets to a show of the winner's choice at ADC Theatre, a bottle of champagne donated by Cambridge City Hotel and a beautiful plant from Peter Graves Florist.

Tickets for the Vintage Tea Dance are £15 per person and are available to be purchased from the ADC Theatre Box Office here.   Event tickets will be exchanged for raffle tickets on entrance to the tea dance.  Additional raffle tickets as well as event tickets will be available to purchase on the day at Cambridge City Hotel.
