The company has appointed Steve Watts, Colin Plimmer and Vince Gowler, who all bring a wealth of experience from previous companies, including other Cambridge consultancies. By September, thirteen new experienced engineers will have joined Cambridge Design Partnership since July. This recruitment drive will continue for the coming year to sustain the company’s future goals, boosting capacity and strengthening specialist capabilities at Cambridge Design Partnership.
Steve Watts spent the last 20 years as a Consultant at PA Consulting Group’s Technology Practice, where he led the Electronics Systems Group with responsibility for business development across Telecoms, Automotive, Industrial and Financial sectors. At Cambridge Design Partnership, Steve will be focusing on business development: helping clients to introduce new products and technologies and build collaboration strategies.
Steve commented: “CDP is at an exciting stage of its development, growing into a significant player in the innovative, high-technology product space. The clever people and innovation combined with a flexible approach is very appealing.”
Vince Gowler completed a 7-year stint at PA Consulting, in addition to a number of years at both Sagentia and quantumBEAM before taking up the opportunity at Cambridge Design Partnership. Vince’s previous roles saw him leading assignments in Europe and North America, providing him with strong experience in the Pharmaceutical, Renewable and Automotive sectors. At Cambridge Design Partnership he will primarily focus on the operation and management of manufacturing process development projects.
Vince added: “I’m looking forward to working with talented people on interesting client assignments in a dynamic environment. CDP is strongly focused on delivering high quality client projects, whilst maintaining an excellent working atmosphere.”
Colin Plimmer most recently headed up the R&D team at the Wandsworth Group where he was responsible for manufacturing medical technology systems. Prior to this he spent a decade split between Amino Communications and TTP, working as a senior electronics engineer and leading a £2M+ project to develop the world’s first all-digital hotel entertainment system.
Colin commented: “Working at CDP will allow me to use the project management skills and electronics knowledge that I’ve honed in my previous roles. CDP has a friendly working environment combined with world-class engineering capabilities.”
In addition to new consultants, Cambridge Design Partnership’s continued expansion and growth strategy saw the company invest in the construction of a new UK R&D centre at their current site near Cambridge. Due to be completed in October, the new building will provide state-of-the-art laboratories, prototyping workshops and user experience suite together with a high-tech conference facility able to accommodate over 100 delegates. Press will be invited to view the new building at the official opening in early 2014.
