The venue will be bursting with creative talent for this one-day festival, with three stages placed inside the auditorium for people to enjoy, the Underworld, Labyrinth and Inferno stages. As one band finishes on one stage so another will start on the next, giving people the chance to move between them and to enjoy them all, very much in the style of Later… With Jools Holland.
Outside the main space, there will also be the chance to experience the pared back beauty of The Lair, which will be an exclusively acoustic stage.
Festival-goers will have a whole range of delicious food and drink to sample throughout the event, and there will be time in-between sets to browse the delights of the Underground Market, featuring a stall from Cambridge’s very own Black Barn Records.
The line-up features a number of bands from Cambridge and the surrounding areas, each bringing their own distinctive style and energy to the Festival. Playing alongside these local musicians will be some of the brightest names from the indie and rock scene.
Headlining the Underworld Stage are Scottish three-piecerock band The Amorettes. Since they exploded onto the music scene with the release of their album Game On, they have toured extensively, garnering huge critical and popular acclaim and have recently been on tour as official support to Black Star Riders.
Indie band PINS will be headlining the Labyrinth Stage. Their ‘tightly-honed melodies’ and ‘performances filled with energy and drama’ (Guardian) have won them legions of fans and praise from critics. They have released two albums to date (Girls like Us and Wild Nights), both celebrated for their highly energetic and assured musical style. The band have worked with many famous faces, their current single, Aggrophobe, features the iconic artist Iggy Pop.
Stone Broken are the final headliners of the Festival and will be appearing on the Inferno Stage. Having recently toured with rock legend Glenn Hughes, the four-piece hard rock band have made a name for themselves with their big rock sound with huge choruses which has seen them added to national rock radio playlists as well as the bill of this year’s Download Festival.
Subterranean is an all-day event, aimed at music fans of all ages. The venue will be used in a new creative way with three stages (The Inferno Stage, The Labyrinth Stage and The Underworld Stage) placed inside the venue's main auditorium, rotating to provide the very best local talent alongside some national bands from the worlds of rock and indie. The upstairs bar of the venue will become The Lair, featuring the very best in acoustic rock and indie. The event will also have a Festival shopping area and food.
The Festival has been co-curated by Neil Jones, Operations Director for Cambridge Live, local journalist Jude Clarke and Cambridge 105 presenter Tim Willett.
