Cambridge to host Hardware Developers' Conference in 2016

A new annual technology event kicks off near Cambridge in April 2016. H/W Expo is a two day conference that enables hardware developers to explore the latest silicon solutions, new hardware development tools, and the latest test instrumentation and manufacturing technologies.

HW/Expo 2016 will take place at Cambourne Belfry 27th and 28th April 2016.

Consisting of a vendor exhibition, a series of technical presentations and a number of technical workshops, H/W Expo will put hardware developers in touch with industry experts to explore new approaches to hardware development and gain an understanding of future trends.

This H/W Expo event will be co-located with UK Device Developers’ Conference, an event for professionals working in the development of Embedded Systems and Realtime Software. Both events will take place at The Belfry Hotel in Cambourne, just outside of Cambridge on 27th and 28th April 2016.

“Over recent years, the Device Developers’ Conference has gained a good reputation for being a very useful and productive event for developers, but it has had a software bias,” said Richard Blackburn, Conference Manager.

“H/W Expo represents a concerted effort on our part to offer a similar Conference for hardware developers. A conference where developers can explore new technologies relating to such aspects as PCB and circuit design, silicon choice, reference design platforms, display and connectivity technology and hardware test and instrumentation equipment.”

Entirely funded through industry sponsorship, the Conference, including the series of technical presentations will be free to attend for professional developers and technical managers, although there will be a small fee to attend the ½ day workshops.  All presentations and workshops at H/W Expo will be of a deeply technical nature and should be of interest to broad range of developers. The exhibition will be of an informal tabletop nature, staffed mostly by senior engineers and technical experts. The exhibition will represent an important opportunity for developers to discuss current and future challenges and to learn from experts working at the leading edge of hardware development.

“What we try to create is a relaxed forum for the sharing of knowledge, experience and expertise,” said Richard Blackburn. “H/W Expo will be chance for developers to meet experts in their field to find solutions to problems and learn about different, and new, approaches to hardware development.”

Many industry vendors have already expressed a keen interest in supporting next year’s Conference and the organisers feel confident that this H/W Expo will go on to become a key event in the UK engineering calendar.
