The UK Device Developers' Conference will bring together some of the world's leading experts in this field, to share their knowledge and experience. This event will also host a broad range of companies that provide the tools and technologies necessary for the development of leading edge technology.
The conference will include a vendor exhibition, several ½-day technical workshops and a schedule of informative technical presentations. It will be free to attend for engineers, computer scientists, project managers and students in this field, although there will be a small charge for workshops.
"It's shaping up to be a great event, " said Richard Blackburn, Event Organiser. "It has a strong industry support and will cover a lot of important issues, so we are confident that developers will find this an informative and worthwhile investment of their time."
Companies sponsoring this year's event include German debug tool company Lauterbach, UK computer board manufacturer Blue Chip Technology, US based realtime operating system company Wind River and safety critical software specialists Phaedrus Systems. Topics covered will include the integration of touchscreen technology, the writing of device drivers, how to best exploit smart-phone technology and a guide to the very latest debugging technologies. Cambridge company Cambridge Design Partnership will be giving an expert presentation regarding the best approach to enclosure design.
"The Conference is mostly attracting senior development engineers from the larger companies," said Richard Blackburn. "These include major automotive companies, medical and instrumentation, this kind of thing. But we are also attracting people from tech start-ups and academia. It will be a nice mix on the day and is promising to be a relaxing, informative and enjoyable experience."
Industry support for the event is reflected in the fact that the Cambridge exhibition space has sold out and additional presentations have been added to the agenda. Furthermore, the organisers state that two of the ½ -day technical workshops are already close to being fully booked. The Conference will also be replicated in Bristol on the 14th May and Manchester on the 22nd May.
"We know that developers' time is valuable, so we have chosen to run the event in three locations," said Richard Blackburn. "It is about bringing the event to them, and making it easy for them to attend and benefit from the knowledge that will be available. The Cambridge event is looking to be the busiest Conference and clearly reflects the importance of technology to this region."
The half-day workshops at this event will include ‘An Introduction to Advanced Debugging Techniques’, ‘An Introduction to Device Driver Development’ and ‘Getting to Grips with the MISRA C:2012 Standard’.
Presentation titles include ‘Managing The Commercial Use of Linux’, ‘Choosing The Right Debug Tools’ and ‘Developing Portable Code for Embedded Systems’.
