Cambridge Index adds 0.3%

The Cambridge Index rose 0.3% or 61.8 points to end at 23,722.9 as eight of the top ten index heavyweights posted weekly gains.

Numis Securities restated its “Hold” rating on Johnson Matthey, up 1.8%, with a target price of 3711.0p.

Kier Group, up 1.2%, announced that it has completed the disposal of Mouchel Consulting to WSP Global Inc. for a total cash consideration of £75.0m. The company will be benefited with an immediate profit of approximately £40.0m, while it will retain the net proceeds from the disposal for future investment opportunities and for reducing its debt burden.

Amino Technologies, up 6.4%, in its trading update for the ten months ended 30 September 2016, announced that the trading performance of the period was better than the previous expectations, backed by strong orders in August and positive effects of foreign exchange. The Board stated that it anticipates revenues for the full year to be marginally ahead while the adjusted EBITDA & adjusted profit before tax to be better, both with respect to the current market expectations. N+1 Singer reissued its “Buy” rating on the stock with a target price of 168.0p. FinnCap hoisted its target price on the stock to 200.0p from 175.0p and maintained its “Corporate” rating.

Vernalis, up 0.6%, announced that it has commenced the promotion of its amoxicillin antibiotic tablet, MOXATAG, to primary care physicians in the U.S. Cantor Fitzgerald reconfirmed its “Buy” rating on the stock with a target price of 101.0p.

RhythmOne, down 0.7%, in its half yearly trading update, announced that it anticipates the trading performance for the period to be substantially ahead of management expectations. It expects minimum revenues of $80.0m, out of which 80% will be contributed from Core mobile, video and programmatic products. Meanwhile, Numis Securities reissued its “Add” rating on the stock with a target price of 42.0p.

Cambridge Cognition Holdings, down 3.0%, announced that it has signed a series of new contracts worth over £0.25m for its CANTAB Connect software platform for assessing the abuse potential of investigational drugs in a new market application. FinnCap reissued its “corporate” rating on the stock.

1Spatial, down 6.1%, announced that it has entered into a reseller distribution agreement with mapping company, HERE.

Shares of Tristel were trading firmer in today’s early session, as its annual revenues climbed to £17.1m from £15.3m in the previous year. Profit before tax marginally rose to £2.59m from £2.55m in the last year. The Board recommended a final dividend of 2.19p per share. Earlier today, shares of Sareum Holdings were trading higher, as the company announced that it will be granted patent by the Japan and Singapore Patent Offices for the inventions related with Sareum's Aurora+FLT3 kinase inhibitor programme.

UK markets ended mostly lower in the last week, led by decline in oil and mining stocks. On the macro front, the UK RICS housing price balance advanced in September. The FTSE 100 index fell 0.4% to 7,013.6, while the FTSE AIM 100 Index lost 0.2% to close at 3,969.4. However, the FTSE techMARK 100 Index remained flat at 4,478.4.

US markets finished lower in the previous week, dragged down by energy sector shares. The Federal Open Market Committee’s policy meeting minutes for September pointed to an interest rate hike comparatively sooner than expected. The DJIA index fell 0.6 % to 18,138.4, while the NASDAQ Index lost 1.5% to 5,214.2.
