Cambridge Index advances 2.8%

The Cambridge Index climbed 670.8 points or 2.8% to close at 24,932.1, as nine out of the top ten index heavyweights posted weekly gains in their share price.

Hilton Food Group, up 3.0% to 509p.The company announced that Non-Executive Chair Mark Allen has been appointed as Executive Chair, following the immediate stepping down of CEO Steve Murrells. The company stated that it is in a strong financial position, and its expectations for the financial year ending 28th December 2025 remain in line with previous guidance, despite current trading being challenging.

CyanConnode Holdings, up 28.9% to 8.3p and emerged as the top gainer in the Cambridge Index. The company, in its trading update for the first half of 2026, announced a significant contract win in Goa, India, worth approximately £70.00m. Despite currency translation effects, the company’s revenue climbed by 31% to £7.4m, driven by smart metering projects in India and other regions. The company shipped 893,000 Omnimesh Modules in India during this period, reflecting strong operational momentum. With a robust order book of £157.00m and the upcoming commencement of the Goa AMISP project. 

Avingtrans, a leading manufacturer of engineering components, up 1% to 490p. The company announced the appointment of Austen Adams as Group Chief Operating Officer. He most recently served as the divisional Managing Director for its Advanced Engineering Systems division and would now also join Avingtrans’ board.

Aferian, down 7.5% to 1.9p and emerged as the top loser in the Cambridge Index. The company announced that it has secured a short extension to its $16.50m banking facilities until 12 December 2025 and it plans to request a further extension to 30 January 2026. The terms of these facilities remain unchanged, as do the terms of the £1.125m loan from Kestrel Partners LLP, which matures on 31 January 2026. 

Oracle Power, a provider of mining services, remained unchanged at 0%. The company announced assay results from the first six drillholes of the recently completed vertical Grade Control (GC) drilling programme at the Northern Zone Intrusive Hosted Gold Project (Northern Zone or the Project), located 25 km east of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. Assay results from a further 15 drillholes are still to be assayed, with results expected in the near term. In addition, drilling is progressing on a new ~40-hole drilling programme, with 12 holes completed to date.

UK markets ended higher last week, after Britain’s new Autumn Budget eased concerns over country’s financial stability. On the macro front, UK’s, The FTSE 100 index advanced 1.9% to settle at 9,720.5, while the FTSE AIM 100 index rose 3.2% to close at 3,605.7. Meanwhile, the FTSE techMARK 100 index gained 1.5% to end at 7,792.4.

US markets ended higher in the previous week, amid optimism surrounding the US Federal Reserve’s December rate cuts. On the data front, US’s producer pricing index rose as expected in September. Meanwhile, the US retail sales advanced less than expected in September, while US’s initial jobless claim rose less than expected in the week ended 21 November 2025. Also, the Richmond Fed manufacturing index dropped more than expected in November. Additionally, the Chicago PMI rose less than expected in November. The DJIA index rose 3.2% to end at 47,716.4, while the NASDAQ index gained 4.9% to close at 23,365.7.
