Cambridge Index gains 1.3%

The Cambridge index rose 1.3% or 218.9 points to end at 17,291.4, as eight of the top ten index heavyweights posted weekly gains.

 

Bryan, Garnier & Co reiterated its “Buy” rating on ARM Holdings, up 2.4%, with a target price of 1310p. BNP Paribas were also positive, reissuing its “Outperform” rating on the stock with a target price of 1300p.

HSBC reaffirmed its “Buy” rating on Johnson Matthey, up 1.2%, with a target price of 3300p. BNP Paribas reconfirmed its “Neutral” rating on the stock with a target price of 2500p.

DS Smith, down 2.3%, announced that its Plastics division has appointed Peter Lamb as the Managing Director of Rapak business for the Asia Pacific region.  He will be responsible for the operations in Thailand, Australia, and New Zealand.

Liberum Capital reissued its “Buy” rating on Kier Group, up 1.3%, with a target price of 1400p.

Horizon Discovery Group remained flat at 153.5p. The company announced that it has launched the HDx™ FFPE RNA Fusion Reference Standards. This is a product designed to allow users to evaluate the integrity of their results from targeted RNA sequence analysis.

Cambridge Cognition Holdings, down 5.6%, announced that Hybridan LLP has been appointed as its Joint Broker with immediate effect. FinnCap will remain as the Nominated Adviser to the company.
 
UK markets ended higher last week, led by advance in the mining sector stocks. Moreover, the nation’s economy expanded 0.6% in the fourth quarter of 2015, more than the previous estimate of 0.5%. The FTSE 100 index edged 0.6% higher to 6,146.1, while the FTSE AIM 100 Index rose 0.6% to finish at 3,346. The FTSE techMARK 100 Index gained 1.7% to 3,873.3.

US markets finished firmer in the previous week, as the dovish comments by the US Federal Reserve Chief ruled out any possibility of interest rate hike in April, thus boosting investor sentiment. Additionally, the non-farm payrolls data and consumer confidence figures rose more than expected in March. The DJIA index climbed 1.6% to 17,792.8, while the NASDAQ Index advanced 3% to 4,914.5.
