London comes out on top for start-up activity and funding, while Winchester, Hampshire, ranks highest for quality of life, according to the Halifax Quality of Life index cited in the article.
However, "when it comes to startup survival rates, Cambridge is the best town or city in the UK with 49.4% of businesses still going after five years," says the writer, Lucy Jolin.
