Daniel Zeichner, Member of Parliament for Cambridge, has met with co-founder of local charity Something To Look Forward To, Fiona Coldron, following national recognition for the positive contribution the charity is making to people living with cancer.

Mr Zeichner contacted Fiona Coldron after discovering that she had been awarded the Points of Light Award from The Office of the Prime Minister to find out more about the contribution she was making through her charity work. Fiona was also awarded the prestigious Special Achievement Award at the 2018 National Lottery Good Causes Awards.

Daniel Zeichner said: “It was inspiring to meet Fiona and to hear about her establishing Something To Look Forward To. As Fiona explained to me, creating the special moments in life can be difficult for families faced with cancer as the cost of the illness can take over. Through the kind gifts from businesses, Something To Look Forward To has helped create moments to remember at a time when they are most needed for families.

"I congratulate her for the recent recognition she has received from the National Lottery and the Prime Minister's Office. She can be very proud of the positive contribution her work has made to people affected by cancer and I encourage local businesses who are able to do so to support the great work of Something To Look Forward To."

Something To Look Forward To promotes the well-being, relieves the stress and aids the recuperation of those who are experiencing the effects of cancer and its treatment, together with their families. In particular by the provision of positive individual and/or family experiences.

Fiona Coldron, Co-Founder of Something to Look Forward to, said: "It was a privilege to meet Daniel and discuss the work of Something To Look Forward To in Cambridge and we are so pleased to have his support."

"We are identifying people affected by cancer poverty on a daily basis so it is vital that we help them create positive memories when they need to most. There are so many kind and caring businesses out there that donate such things as restaurant meals, hotel stays and spa breaks but due to the prevalence of the disease we are always looking for more people to donate their services, gifts and experiences to those in need."
