Cambridge MP to visit Cambridge Sustainable Food

Cambridge MP Daniel Zeichner will see first-hand Cambridge Sustainable Food’s excellent work tackling food poverty across the city and its surrounding villages when he visits today (Friday).

Cambridge Sustainable Food is a partnership of public, private and community organisations, working together to shape a sustainable and fairer food system in Cambridge.

Mr Zeichner wants to celebrate the organisation’s role in spearheading the City Council’s pandemic emergency food response, in partnership with the Cambridge Food Poverty Alliance and community groups. Together, they set up nine hubs across the city which saw 36,644 visits over 2020/21. He will also mark the organisation’s commitment to tackling food injustice more generally.

Daniel Zeichner, MP for Cambridge, said: “Sam and the team’s dedication to tackling issues such as food insecurity, diet-related ill health and making a healthier, more sustainable, more resilient and more accessible food system, is commendable and shows a depth of commitment, purpose and resolve that is so deeply needed. Everyone should have access to healthy, affordable and sustainable food, and they embody that attitude".
