The company – which develops and sells natural healthcare products with clinically proven benefits – launched its crowdfunding campaign on SyndicateRoom last Friday, 15th April, with the aim of raising capital to market its new pipeline of products.
Building on its original product, a popular dietary supplement known as "the tomato pill", the company has now rebranded as FutureYouHealth.com and is rapidly expanding its range of health supplements.
Adam Cleevely, Chief Executive of Cambridge Nutraceuticals, said: "The supplements market in the UK is worth £890m a year, but more importantly for us, with our focus on building an e-commerce business, online sales are £220m per year and are growing at more than 10% and have been doing so for the last 5 years.
“We know that customers want clinical evidence and proven absorption of the health supplements they purchase, and that’s what we are bringing to the market that is different from everyone else.
“Last year we sold through the Ateronon brand and achieved around half a million in sales, but four months ago we re-launched as a new brand, futureyouhealth.com, and since then we have gained more than 2,000 customers and more than doubled our online revenue.”
The board now also includes Jim Warwick, COO at Abcam, who has introduced a wealth of experience about developing an effective and efficient e-commerce platform. He joins Tim Dye, Executive Chairman; Eddie Powell, Finance Director; and Science Director Professor Alf Lindberg, previously Chair of Medical Committee at the Nobel Foundation.
Cleevely added: “The UK supplements market is very fragmented between hundreds of different companies – meaning no one has got it right yet.
“We aim to change that by combining science with high-quality service.”
Cambridge business angel Peter Keen, until recently CEO and Executive Director at Cambridge Innovation Capital plc, is lead investor for this funding round.
