With a thriving technology cluster, world-class university and its close proximity to Stansted Airport and London, Cambridge is attracting businesses from across the UK and the world as a top location to relocate to. Organisations such as AstraZeneca, Illumina and Microsoft Research have all chosen Cambridge as their headquarters or regional base.
Ranking 2nd in the Small and Micro European cities category and ranked in the Top 10 for the Overall Small Cities of the Future, Cambridge overcame competition from UK cities Reading, Aberdeen and Belfast to reach the top position.
The East of England also ranked highly in the report, coming 6th in the Northern European Region of the Future category; missing out on the top three to the South East of England, Dublin and Scotland.
Carried out by FDi Intelligence, the European Cities and Regions of the Future 2016/17 report provides a benchmark for assessing the continent’s investment landscape.
