The awards, now in their 11th year, celebrate the most talented FDs in the UK, alongside leading service providers in the sector. Previous winners include Tim Score of Cambridge-based semi-conductor and software design company ARM Holdings PLC, who was crowned FTSE 100 FD of the Year at last year’s ceremony.
Score, who beat off stiff competition from easyJet’s Chris Kennedy and BT Group’s Tony Chanmugam among others, was presented with the award after delivering strict financial discipline in a dynamic market. He also helped turnover climb by nearly 42% in the review period – the fastest growth on last year’s FTSE 100 shortlist.
The FDs’ Excellence Awards are divided into three parts, covering private businesses, FTSE companies and service providers.
Nominations, which can be submitted for the six FDs’ Awards categories, are open until 28th February 2015. These categories recognise role-model FDs in UK-based businesses, with awards ranging from Young Finance Professional of the Year (under 30), to Private Company FD of the Year: Larger Businesses (50m + turnover).
The three FTSE FDs Award category winners are identified by financial research from corporate intelligence firm Jordans, alongside testimonials from CEOs.
The results of the annual FDs’ Satisfaction Survey, which also closes on February 28th, will determine the winners of the FDs’ Excellence Awards element of the programme. These categories are the ultimate test of service excellence and recognise the full range of service suppliers in the sector.
The deadline for entries is 28th February. For more information visit fdx.realbusiness.co.uk or call 0207 045 7600.
ICAEW Chief Executive, Michael Izza, said: “We know how vital finance directors are to the wider economy as they steer business through a burgeoning economic recovery. They are even often the unsung heroes of an organisation working to keep businesses growing. That is why we encourage businesses across the country to go the extra mile and nominate and celebrate the success of their FDs.”
Matthew Fell, CBI Director for Competitive Markets, said: “Financial Directors play a vital role in driving economic growth. The CBI is therefore delighted to continue to support the FDs’ Excellence Awards and I personally look forward to celebrating the achievements of all of this year’s nominees.”
Amy Carroll, Group Editor, Caspian Media, adds: “Last year we saw Finance Directors recognised from a wealth of different businesses, ranging from a multinational software design company to a rapidly expanding payment processing business. I hope their stories will inspire a new wave of entrants for this year’s awards.”
Winners will be announced on 14th May 2015 at an awards ceremony at the London Marriott, Grosvenor Square.
