Cambridgeshire Enterprising Women present at IoD Regional Summit

Leading Cambridgeshire businesswomen have been invited to present at the Institute of Directors (IoD) Enterprising Women in the East Summit taking place at Newmarket Racecourse on Wednesday 15 November.

The event will showcase enterprising women from across the East of England and forms part of a nationwide IoD campaign addressing the main issues around the impact of gender on business and presenting the latest thinking on topics such as gender diversity on boards and the growing significance of women as directors, consumers and investors in business.

Participants from the Cambridgeshire area include Lucy Brine, Area Director - Healthcare & Education with Lloyds Bank who supports the banks strategy to increase the female senior leadership team.  This includes mentoring and running workshops for talented female leaders of the future.  Lucy is also involved in community work in Cambridge coordinating the support of digital and financial skills in the community and schools.

"We are pleased that the Cambridgeshire region will be represented by dynamic and enterprising women at an event that will cover a wide range of topics including the gender pay gap, the importance of leadership, mental health and well-being plus the importance of measuring the social impact of business activities," says Simone Robinson, Head of Regional Relationships for IoD East of England.

As of July 2014, there were no all-male boards in the FTSE 100 and female representation has now increased to 26.1%. This has resulted in the UK being 5th in Europe when it comes to female board representation. However, there are still only 25 (4.6%) women in executive positions in the FTSE 250 compared to 340 non exec directors. While representation on boards has continued to increase, there is still work to be done in achieving a sustainable pipeline of decision-making women.

"The Enterprising Women in the East Summit is open to all business leaders and we are pleased that male and female business leaders will be in attendance."
