Can you help to provide Christmas gifts for vulnerable families?

Buchan Street Neighbourhood Centre needs your help to send Christmas packages to as many vunerable families as possible.

Cambridge City Council’s Buchan Street Neighbourhood Centre usually holds a Christmas party for families in north Cambridge who are experiencing hardship. They can’t do that this year, but will be doing something on a larger scale to help support vulnerable families across the city.

The centre will be working with Cambridge Sustainable Food and other partners to reach as many local families experiencing hardship as they can. Each family will receive a food parcel including fresh food, a range of treats, and a gift of a family game. The parcels will be delivered in the week before Christmas.

How can you help?

You can help by buying a gift from one of the online wish lists:

  • Lighthouse Toys, a local company – select Cambridge Sustainable Food or postcode CB4 2XF for a free delivery option

  • John Lewis – you could team up with friends or family to make use of the free delivery option

  • Waterstones

Alternatively, you could buy a gift that you and your family would love from a shop of your choice. Send it to Buchan Street Neighbourhood Centre, or deliver it between 10am and 2pm on Monday to Friday.

If you prefer, you could put together a food hamper as part of the food bank Christmas Hamper Project.

Or you could make a financial donation to Cambridge Sustainable Food. Use the Donate button on their website, or contact them if you prefer to send money by bank transfer.

Last but not least, you could volunteer some time. Contact Buchan Street Neighbourhood Centre if you can spare some time and would like to help:
