CB1 Business Centre expands as demand increases

The new high quality workspace has been designed to help meet the needs of Cambridge’s growing community of small businesses.

The initiative has delivered 30 new work stations that can be grouped together to form small office areas for between one and four people with a range of potential configurations.  This level of flexibility is popular with the city’s burgeoning technology and professional services sectors, which can experience rapid growth over a relatively short period.  The majority of the space is already pre-let and the first companies are due to move in this week.

Run by Stansted-based business centre operator Mantle, the CB1 Business Centre provides fully serviced offices, virtual office services and meeting space in a central and professional business environment.  In addition to desks, telephones, internet access and air conditioning, occupiers at the centre have access to kitchen facilities and a range of secretarial and administrative services.

The following three companies have benefited from their residency at CB1 Business Centre:

Cambridge Art Insurance was the very first company to move into the CB1 Business Centre in May 2013. The firm has a strong client base in London and has benefitted from the centre’s location, just a minute away from Cambridge train station with its 45 minute service into King’s Cross.  Cambridge Art Insurance has since renewed its agreement for a further 12 months and is an asset to the CB1 Business Centre community.

In late 2013, Clinked had outgrown their previous office space, which was near Royston, and were looking for new space in central Cambridge. They took an office at CB1 Business Centre in November 2013.  Since moving in, they have expanded their team and are finding the flexibility and convenience of serviced office space ideal for their successful and rapidly growing tech start-up.

Twigkit is a tech start up, founded in London in 2009, and based in Cambridge since 2012.  Their products provide all the user interface components you would expect to find in a search application, from faceted navigation to advanced search, from as-you-type suggestions to result previews.  They have a number of high-profile clients, including PricewaterhouseCoopers, Vodafone, Thomson Reuters, Rolls Royce and the Financial Times.

Twigkit moved in to their new office at the CB1 Business Centre in March 2014.  They have already expanded their team within the office, and are making the most of the networking opportunities available to them from this central Cambridge location.
