Celebrating talent – a view into Aveillant’s culture

To achieve rapid development and delivery of product that meets stringent performance criteria, Aveillant has a combination of a fast-moving innovative culture coupled with strong engineering discipline and product thinking. Ots systems are designed to have a 25 year lifetime – and teams excel in creating and delivering safe systems within a regulated environment.

The company writes:

Although we continue to research and improve, we are delivering product. Our decisions are well thought out to enable the systems to be easily maintained and be reliable for the years to come.

This is a culture where colleagues get excited about what we are doing as a company; they enjoy being part of creating and delivering disruptive technology and product.

Our mentality is one of honesty and delivery. We commit and deliver on our promises, on time. We enjoy flexible hours and occasional home working; results matter more than ‘face time’. Sometimes though we have to work extra and antisocial hours at short notice to deliver on these commitments, especially when things go wrong (it happens!). However in return we have the satisfaction of building something great, we get that reward of ‘we made that!’ and see the news articles praising the performance of the systems.

Our staff are grounded people, we get our hands dirty. Being a theorist is fine as long as we can then actually produce and deliver reliable product from these ideas.

Continuous improvement is vitally important to us, not just of our products and development, but of ourselves. We don’t look at who is at fault; we do however expect everyone to look at themselves and understand how they, or we, can do it right next time. We support people in their technical and personal growth through training and mentoring.

We also encourage our staff to promote Aveillant and themselves, for example through papers, webinars, and contributions to the Open Source community. We encourage and listen to ideas from everyone and enjoy sharing these externally in addition to benefiting from them internally.
