Ceremony marks start of Illumina’s new EMEA headquarters

Life Sciences Minister George Freeman MP attended BioMed Realty’s groundbreaking ceremony of the new 155,000 square foot pre-let laboratory building for Illumina at Granta Park, Cambridge, yesterday (Weds).

He said:“I’m delighted to be here today to break ground on Illumina’s new EMEA headquarters.

"Illumina and BioMed Realty’s commitment to building a new state-of-the art facility in the Cambridge cluster is great news for the region. Illumina's investment in the 100,000 Genomes Project is a strong endorsement of our mission to make the UK the location of choice for investment in global life sciences and strengthens the UK’s leadership in delivering better treatments for people with cancers and rare diseases.”

Alan Gold, CEO of BioMed Realty said:  “It was wonderful to see so many people at today’s groundbreaking ceremony for the new Illumina building at Granta Park. Life Sciences Minister, George Freeman, inspired us as he spoke about how important the growing Cambridge market is to successful development in life sciences.

"We are very much looking forward to seeing the new Illumina building come to fruition and the exciting work that they will be doing inside it.”
