Cheadle hosts UK technology developers' conference

Conference for engineers and computer scientists explores the latest tools and technologies for the development of intelligent systems and devices.

The UK Device Developers' Conference is set to take place at De Vere Cheadle House in Cheadle on Tuesday 3rd June.

The Device Developers’ Conference is an event for engineers and computer scientists working in the field of intelligent systems and devices. The Conference explores the latest hardware, software, development tools and embedded systems technologies, and brings together experts and key vendors from around the world.

The Conference includes technical workshops, technical presentations and a vendor exhibition and is free to attend for industry professionals and engineering students. There is a small charge for places on the workshops.

"The Device Developers' Conference is an annual event that enables hardware engineers and software developers to learn about the latest developments and to explore new technologies for future projects," said Richard Blackburn, Conference Manager. "The half-day workshops are proving very popular, as these are presented by experts in their field, and it offers an important opportunity for developers to gain new skills and understanding."

This year's Conference will explore such topics as 'software reliability', 'device to internet connectivity', 'Android for embedded systems', 'Open source software for safety critical systems' and 'ARM Cortex development'. The workshops will include topics such as the 'development of graphical user interfaces' and the 'development of certified systems'.

"We are very pleased with this year's agenda," said Richard Blackburn. "It's an exciting mix of topics being presented by industry experts with a great deal of real world experience. We work hard to create an event that developers will find a worthwhile investment of their time. We feel very confident that this year's Conference will be a productive use of their time."

The UK Device Developers' Conference is sponsored by some of the world's leading suppliers of development tools, hardware and services. The 2014 sponsors include German debug tool company Lauterbach, US based embedded software company Wind River, Italian hardware company Eurotech and UK based software training experts Feabhas. The Conference is run in four different UK locations and attracts in the region of 400 delegates from across the UK and Europe each year.

"Development engineers are busy people, under a lot of pressure," said Richard Blackburn. "So, we move the event around the country, to make it easy for them to attend. We have recently run the Conference at Bristol and Cambridge with great success, so we are now looking forward to repeating it at Cheadle."

Running alongside this event, there will also be a smaller conference called The Reliable Software Developers Conference. This is a one-day conference exploring the software tools and coding standards that help companies develop safety critical and highly reliable software.  The afternoon will be given over to a workshop called “Getting to Grips with MISRA C:2012”. MISRA C is a coding standard that is increasingly being adopted by developers worldwide where safety and reliability has to be assured.
