The Close to Home campaign will address the 64 per cent rise [1] in homeless applications by highlighting the importance of the services offered by CHS Group and similar charities. These include employment, housing, rehabilitation, and benefits advice.
CHS Group’s outreach employment programme supports individuals who have experienced, currently are, or are at risk of becoming, homeless.
Commenting on the role of outreach employment advisor, CHS Group’s head of community investment, Andrew Church, said: “Homelessness in Cambridge goes relatively unnoticed; there is much more to the issue than you see on the street. Homelessness can occur at any stage of a person’s life for a range of reasons including divorce, redundancy, or illness, which we’re all susceptible to.”
The campaign will run for a total of four weeks, and CHS Group is encouraging people to sign a petition to help ensure the continued support for homeless services, which are funded through Cambridge City Council.
