Guests were treated to live cooking demonstrations, delicious breads, cheeses and mouth-watering canapés, all accompanied by sumptuous wines and coffees.
Musical entertainment was provided by the talented, full 20-piece Churchill Jazz Band, who performed all styles of jazz from classic swing to Latin tunes, as well as funk and more modern numbers - ranging from The Lady is a Tramp to Mueva Los Huesos.
The Churchill Casino was in full swing, with well-trained student croupiers, offering Poker, Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, Baccarat and a customised Wheel of Fortune.
The Churchill Casino generously donates to local charities and on this occasion, a £1,000 cheque was presented to Cindy Reay and Jerry Gregory from FLACK, a vibrant monthly ‘what’s on’ listings magazine for Cambridge written, produced and distributed by members of the city’s homeless community.
Shelley Surtees, Domestic & Conference Bursar at Churchill said: “We were delighted to welcome so many clients, colleagues and friends to the event which was tremendous fun. We are very proud to be associated with Churchill Jazz Band and Churchill Casino with whom we often collaborate at events.
Churchill College is an ideal venue for a wide variety of events. The architecture pays reference to the traditional vernacular of inter-linked courtyards, but the style is decidedly contemporary. The open parkland setting where visitors are free to stroll or play games on the grass is inspiring and relaxing and the world famous Churchill Archive Centre can provide insights into some of the most significant political leaders of the 20th century.
