Cities Outlook highlights strength of our cities

The annual Centre for Cities Cities Outlook 2016 report has once again highlighted the strengths of the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough LEP area. From fast growth in Peterborough to high skills and innovation in Cambridge, the GCGP area has a lot to offer businesses.

Neil Darwin, Chief Executive of the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough LEP, commented: “The Cities Outlook report once again highlights the strength of the Cambridge economy as a net contributor to UK plc, backed up with strong housing growth figures.

"Cambridge has a unique appeal, with a highly skilled workforce coupled with some of the most innovative businesses in the world. A unique appeal that we must protect and harness for the benefit of both the local community and the wider economy. This success and popularity brings with it challenges, such as pressures on infrastructure and house prices, that we are working with partners to address.”

Reflecting on the results for Peterborough, Neil continued: “Peterborough continues to grow faster than almost every other city in the UK, with an increasing base of businesses choosing the city as their home. From major international businesses to a strong core of small and micro enterprises, Peterborough has a lot to offer both businesses and residents. We are working hard to develop the city further, from improving key infrastructure to developing a strong and appropriately skilled workforce for the future.”
