The grants will be spent on developing innovative technologies and processes in the food and drink sector, which will help ensure that what we eat and drink is as safe and healthy as possible.
Colworth Park prides itself in hosting unique events for world-leading firms to share innovation and ideas. The park is excited to applaud a staggering twelve companies, which attended events in 2013, on being awarded over a third of the total £8.5m winnings from the Technology Strategy Board’s ‘Nutrition for Life’ project grant competition.
The lead winners include Eminate, Insignia Technologies, Interpharm Investments, Nosh Detox Delivery, Domino Printing Sciences, Interasight, Phynova Group and Unilever.
Of these successful applicants, companies such as Unilever and the University of Nottingham are tenants at Colworth Park and utilise the extensive state-of-the-art meeting and events facilities based in The Exchange at Colworth Park.
These twelve winners have all experienced the contemporary work environment offered at Colworth Park when attending events such as ‘Insights and Innovation in FMCG’ held in October 2013. Speakers at this event included, Colworth Park Enterprise Director Dr Wesley Randle plus representatives from Birmingham City University, Unilever and Tesco. Some winners also attended the ‘Food and Drink Connections’ event – this included exhibitions, networking, extra lab facility tours, expert 1-2-1’s plus industry speakers such as Prof John Casey, VP Biological Sciences at Unilever Discover, Colworth.
Dr Wesley Randle, Colworth Park Enterprise Director said: ‘This is a huge achievement for these forward-thinking organisations and we applaud their success in driving food and drink innovation. At Colworth Park we will continue to invest in exciting events supporting innovation in 2014 and welcome these exceptional companies, and the like, to use our facilities - helping us grow the culture of scientific collaboration, improvement and entrepreneurship associated with our park’.
